iLoveMakonnen - I Don't Sell Molly No More

Here lies Makonnen. Who is he? Well, I'm not all the way sure yet. What I do know is he's the creator of the quirkiest trap music you've ever heard. That description doesn't fully describe his music but he is the newest genre bender that Atlanta has to offer. He's still severely underground at the moment, but he's caught the attention of popular Atlanta producers and he now has several tracks with said producers. Makonnen's vibe feels and sounds like an audio oxymoron. Can I say he's the rap version of the The Weeknd? Maybe? That description doesn't do him justice either. I don't know what to call it, but I enjoy it. Below is the short video of his song entitled "I Don't Sell Molly No More" which is produced by Sonny Digital. Johnny Cinco - No Choice [Video]

It's been a long time coming for Johnny Cinco. He dropped his newest project non-concidentally on Cinco De Mayo! The project is entitled "John Popi" The project can be viewed and downloaded on Livemixtapes.com. Cinco also dropped on the 5th of May, his latest video, which is for a song that has been bubbling in the streets for awhile now. You can see the video for "NO CHOICE" below.


 


 The video is great, and I hope this really puts Cinco where he needs to be.

Lucci - 20 Dime Pieces

We kind of pride ourselves keeping you abreast to the new upcoming artists that have the potential to make noise down the line. Well here is someone fresh for you, he goes by YFN Lucci. 20 Dime Pieces is the name of the first record. Lucci is a solid up and comer that will soon have a name for himself in Atlanta. Go ahead and put your friends on.

R.I.P. Doe B

It's sad that our youth can't make it to see their dreams fulfilled. We lost another talent whose star was on the way up. Hate to see you gone. Doe B was gunned down in his hometown of Montgomery, AL inside a nightclub. He died at the hospital, at the age of 22. R.I.P. Doe B. Please watch the memorial video below as it flashes memories of his lost life.

Guyana Gold by Money Makin Nique

There is this common misconception that Atlanta only produces trap music or one and done acts. Even though there are several examples that Atlanta's music culture is diverse, it still tends to fall into that stereotype. Well, I have another artist to throw you off that way of thinking. We have here, Money Makin Nique, The Lion King, The Roughneck. Nique's latest project is entitled Guyana Gold. He tells the story of how Atlanta is synonymous with the biblical city of Babylon. The story of how the city is doomed while at the same time it thrives. If you live or frequent Atlanta, you know exactly what he is saying. Guyana Gold gives listeners a full length project to indulge in, something Nique's previous project didn't. You get to pull back the layers as he navigates through the city he calls Babylon. Vice Haus Deluxe

ForteBowie is back. Vice Haus was originally released in February as an EP. Forte now has revisited the project and juiced it up to the point of what it should have been in the first place. Vice Haus Deluxe takes you on reminiscent road, but yet still gives you a forward sound. Atlanta hip hop has gone away from its Organized Noise roots, but Forte is in the driver seat of bringing you back to that era. He's a genre-bender, he refuses to be categorized in a sub-genre or even labeled as certain type of performer. Refuses! Definitely something to appreciate. Several notable tracks on the project, but "Ready for the World" and "Ain't Shit" get my top nods. I'm ready to see what Forte does with this project, and hope the best for him. It deserves a listen in its entirety.

Spree Wilson - Right One, Wrong Time [Video]

Here is the visual to one of my favorite songs in recent months. The video accurately depicts the essence of the song. The blending of classic Atlanta bass with Spree's style just feels right. Other than the horrid red lipstick the women are wearing, the video is nice. Take a peep.

ForteBowie - Vice Haus

If you look back through the pages of this blog you'll see this guy's name mentioned several times. ForteBowie is one of my favorite artists, period. His versatility is unmatched by most artists today. Forte finally has released a new project entitled VICE HAUS. It's been a year and half since "Something About Bowie" dropped and he surely didn't disappoint. Vice Haus takes you through the frame of mind of a twenty-something trying to figure out his life. The 7-track EP (which is really like 10 songs) is completely produced by Forte himself and has one feature which is Miloh Smith on M.O.B. The dope part about Forte is he always comes at you from a different perspective not normally explored by his peers. I like to call his brand of music "tastefully ratchet"...It sounds so good, but the subject matter might still be lowbrow, but his spin on it then bumps it back up a notch. Can't beat it. ForteBowie - Gucci Mane

FORTE!!! I'm so happy he's getting more shine on his talent. I generally love whatever he graces, and this new track isn't any different. Forte has mastered the craft of what I like to call "Tastefully Ratchet". Gucci Mane is the perfect track to illustrate just that. Migos - Bando [Video]

Live from the Underbelly of Atlanta! This might be this summer's hood anthem in Atlanta. These dudes go by the name "Migos" and they are from North Atlanta somewhere. Haven't figured exactly where yet. Regardless of how horrible the video is this song has the potential to catch like wildfire. Let's see what they do with their opportunity. Enjoy the video.


 

Trinidad Jame$ - $outh$ide (feat. ForteBowie) [Video]

The newest visual from the leader of the Gold Gang featuring the talented ForteBowie is now here. Southside was directed by Decatur Dan and shot on set at JPauls, a nightclub in Riverdale. The video has cameos from Big Boi and Ali of Travis Porter. Southside is the last song on Don't Be S.A.F.E. Check out the project if you haven't done so already.

Forgive me...I should've blogged about Rara 2 months ago, but I've been so busy enjoying the music that it slipped my mind. Rara released his mixtape entitled "Higher" and it's one of those gems that come by every now and then. It's very reminiscent of original southern hip hop. Introducing Trinidad James

Once again I'm trying to inform you on what's growing on the underbelly of Atlanta. We have here Trinidad James. He makes a brand of rap that I think women would call "I wish my boyfriend was this cool" music.
His mixtape "Don't Be S.A.F.E." is quickly approaching, but first he has released two teasers.
One will be featured on his tape and the other is a leak.

Feed The Homeless

Two weeks ago, the Fly Kix team decided to take it upon themselves to feed the homeless here in Atlanta.  With the help of Ming Lee and Laila Ali, we were able to gather up help from our peers and make it all happen. Make sure to help out whenever you can.  Most of this country's population is 2-3 paychecks away from the poorhouse themselves. Shout out to Decatur Slim for his time and help as well.

ForteBowie - Impala

Just like anybody else, I go through phases when I just run songs into the ground.  This is the current song that is going through this treatment.  This is ForteBowie's Impala, produced by Friendly Fires. Too Dope.

ForteBowie

This one is a lil ahead of the curve but this is some good music.  He goes by the name ForteBowie and he's from Atlanta.  He recently released his mixtape called "Something About #Bowie." He needs some polishing but he's definitely on to something here.  This is not his first body of work, and I myself have to go back and listen to his old joints, but his sound is right up my alley.  Below is what I feel is the stand out track.  It's called "Alive" and it features another Atlanta artist by the name of Stanza. Another track worth a mention is "Ratchet."



The production is very solid on his latest mixtape, which is mostly done by Bowie himself.  He can only get better.  The only thing I can see that he completely lacks is an image.  Once he finds that, he's on his way.  Keep on pushin Forte. People are gonna hear you.
